Course Types
I do not have experience in dance. What are the courses suitable for me?
Mixed Style Dance, Chinese Dance Basics are popular among new dancers. However, feel free to try out other classes and let our instructors know if you wish to have basic steps explained along the way.
Can I still join other courses if I do not have experience in dance?
Yes, as long as you have a basic sense of rhythm and coordination and believe in yourself, you will be able to catch up with the rest with enough practice!
What is taught in Mixed Style Dance?
This course comprises the principles and key features of ballet, traditional, contemporary, folk and fitness dance.
Do we only learn one dance choreography per term?
With the exception of Classical Dance (one choreography per term), other courses will be taught based on the general class progress, to the instructors' discretion.
Course Fees
How are fees calculated if I join a course midway?
Fees are prorated on a case-by-case basis. Please contact our finance director Vicky (available daily before 4pm) at +65 94253833 for more information.
Can I pay for a single class?
Yes. Each drop-in single class is $38.
What happens if I miss a lesson?
You can do make-up lessons with other courses. One make-up to be used per course, valid for 2 months and subject to terms and conditions. Please inform the course IC or admin staff if you wish to take leave in advance.
Attire
What is the attire for dance classes?
We strongly encourage you to wear the same dance attire as a class as this will aid the instructor in observing and correcting your moves during lesson.
Can I wear my own attire if I do not wish to buy the class attire?
Yes. Please be in comfortable black outfit as you will be engaging in movement work.
Performance
I only want to dance for fitness, can I choose not to perform?
Of course! Participating in performances is voluntary.
How do I get the chance to perform?
There are regular performance opportunities with Foochow Association events for students of Chinese Dance Basics courses.
Do I have to pay for performance costumes?
Costumes are usually provided for by Xiang Yue Culture Arts (subject to event), with the exception of personal items such as shoes. More details will be provided to performers.
